The note
A CRM will not fix a weak sales process on its own.
CRM means customer relationship management. It is the place where a team keeps lead and client details.
The tool can be useful. The rules around it matter more.
Myth: we need a new CRM
You may only need to clean the steps in the CRM you have. A move can carry the same mess into a new tool.
Myth: automation means no people
Good automation moves dull work. People should still handle judgement, care and hard calls.
Myth: more data is better
Ask for the data you will use. Extra fields make forms longer and records harder to keep clean.
Myth: AI should choose the lead
AI can spot clues in a message. A clear rule and a human check should guide any high-risk choice.
Use AI to help a person decide. Do not hide the decision inside a black box.
A better first step
- List each sales stage
- Give each stage one owner
- Set the next task
- Remove fields no one uses
- Fix duplicate records
- Add one small automation
- Test it with the team
The best CRM is the one your team can keep right.
