eCommerce website design and development

Shopify and custom-built eCommerce, designed around how your customers actually buy.

Who it's for Draft

Who it's for

Makers, manufacturers and heritage brands that sell online, or want to sell more online. Usually there is no developer in-house, and the current shop was built by someone else.

You want a shop that is easy to buy from, easy for your team to run, and looked after once it is live.

The problem Draft

What usually goes wrong

Most shops that underperform are not short of features. They are hard to buy from: slow pages, product options that confuse, checkouts that ask too much, and a back office the team works around rather than with.

Some were built on a platform that suited the agency rather than the business. Others were finished and then left, with nobody to call when something breaks.

Choosing a platform Draft

Shopify or a custom build?

  • Shopify

The right choice for most product businesses. It is secure, quick to run and your team can manage it day to day. We design and build the shop around how your customers actually buy.

  • Custom-built

Worth it when what you sell does not fit a standard product page: made-to-order work, complex quotes, trade pricing, or a process that runs from the website into the factory. NameDroppers is an example: a custom store and quoting tool.

  • Neither, yet

If your current shop is sound and a few fixes would do, we will say so. Honest advice includes "don't do that".

What's included Draft

What we do

A complete shop, from the plan to the first orders, built by the people you will speak to afterwards.

  • A plan before anything is built

What the shop must do, for whom, and what a good result looks like, agreed with you up front.

  • Pages designed for buying

Product, collection, basket and checkout pages shaped around how your customers choose and order.

  • The build

Shopify theme work or a custom build, with the apps and integrations you need and none you don't.

  • Products and content moved in

Products, options, prices, images and pages brought across and checked.

  • Connected to your tools

Links to the systems you already use, so information is entered once.

  • Readable by search and AI

Fast pages, clear titles, structured data and redirects from your old addresses, so search engines and AI assistants can read every page.

  • A careful launch

Tested on real phones and browsers, launched on a planned day, with orders and rankings checked afterwards.

  • Your team shown how

A walk-through of the day-to-day jobs, and ongoing care from the same people if you want it.

Typical Shopify build: 6–10 weeks. Custom builds usually take 10–16+ weeks

Fixed scope, fixed price

How a project runs

  1. Talk

Tell us what isn't working. We'll say plainly whether we can help.

  2. Plan

A fixed scope and a fixed price, agreed before any work starts.

  3. Build

We build, test and launch, protecting your sales and search rankings.

  4. Stay

We look after it afterwards, and we're only ever a phone call away.

PoleBrand is a father-and-son business. When you ring, you speak to the people who built your site. No account managers, no ticket queues, and fixed prices agreed before we start.

What it costs Draft

Fixed scope, fixed price.

Every project has a fixed scope and a fixed price, agreed before any work starts.

We set the price once we both know exactly what the shop needs to do. If something new comes up partway through, we talk about it first. The price does not run away.

Most Shopify projects fall between £7,500–£15,000. Bespoke eCommerce and application builds are scoped separately

Questions Draft

Common questions

Should we use Shopify or a custom build?

Shopify suits most product businesses: it is secure, quick to run and easy for your team to manage. A custom build is worth it when you sell made-to-order or quoted work that a standard product page cannot handle. We will tell you which fits before you commit.

Can you take over a shop someone else built?

Yes. We start by looking at what is there and tell you plainly what is worth keeping. Sometimes the right answer is a few fixes, not a new shop.

Will we lose our search rankings?

Not if the move is planned properly. We map every old address to its new one, carry over page titles and descriptions, and watch rankings after launch.

Can our team update the shop themselves?

Yes. Products, prices, pages and offers are yours to change. We show your team how, and we are a phone call away if they get stuck.
